MiUi is a non-profit organization that provides free unemployment insurance advocacy, advice, and assistance to Michigan residents. The purpose of MiUi Community Connect is to engage a diverse range of stakeholders in local informational luncheons addressing topics of interest about unemployment insurance (UI) in Michigan.
Currently on the panel will be: Steve Gray, Executive Director, MiUi Project introducing MiUi Community Connect and giving a brief history of the unemployment insurance system; Luke Shaefer, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and co-author of the Report "Families at Risk, Report II: The Impact of the 2011 Changes to Michigan’s Unemployment Insurance Program on Unemployed Workers and Their Families;” and other invited guests.
A buffet lunch will be provided, and the event is free. We are hoping for a diverse group of participants from all sectors of the community: business, public sector, human resources, social services, labor and faith-based organizations. After all panelists have spoken, there will be time for questions from the audience and discussion.
